IWLS 2016
International Workshop on Lot Sizing

August 23rd - 25th, 2016
Hannover, Germany

Scope

The seventh edition of the International Workshop on Lot Sizing will be held in Hannover, Germany. The venue of the workshop is the main building of "Leibniz Universität Hannover". The workshop starts on Tuesday, August 23 and ends on Thursday, August 25 (2016).

As in the previous years (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), the goal of the workshop is to cover recent advances in lot sizing: new approaches for classical problems, new relevant problems, integration of lot sizing with other problems such as scheduling, distribution or vehicle routing, presentation of case studies, etc. The workshop will also aim at favoring exchanges between researchers and enhancing fruitful collaboration.

We offer a pre-workshop tutorial for PhD students and other interested workshop participants on Monday, August 22. The tutorial will start at 10:00 am in the Senate meeting room at Leibniz Universität Hannover. It should end around 4:30 or 5:00 pm. The tutorial will be held by Professor Raf Jans (HEC Montreal) and Professor Florian Sahling (Leibniz Universität Hannover) and cover the following topics:

  • Decomposition heuristics for lot sizing problems, in particular Fix-and-Relax, Fix-and-Optimize, GAMS implementation (Florian Sahling)
  • Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition/reformulation and column generation algorithms (Raf Jans)
  • Practical implementation of column generation in GAMS (Florian Sahling and Raf Jans)
